Deshpande Symposium Extends Awards Submissions to April 15
The Awards Committee of the 2019 Deshpande Symposium has announced that it is extending its nomination submission deadline to Monday, April 15. All individuals and institutions wishing to recognize leaders in the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship in colleges and universities are encouraged to submit nominations online by the deadline date.
“The Deshpande Symposium Awards recognize the leaders and institutions everywhere that champion and support innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Deshpande Foundation Executive Director Raj Melville. “Entrepreneurship and innovation are increasingly seen as ‘must have’ abilities for success in life, and we want to be sure recognition goes to individuals, colleges, and universities that have done so much to advance and strengthen them among students.”
Nominations are open in five award categories through April 15.
The Deshpande Symposium Awards recognize the leaders and institutions championing and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. Awards are given in five categories:
Excellence in Curriculum Innovation in Entrepreneurship
Nominees should demonstrate exemplary commitment to and success in developing and offering innovative educational courses and/or programs that foster entrepreneurship education across the institution. Learn more and submit a nomination.
Excellence in Student Engagement in Entrepreneurship
Nominees should demonstrate encouragement of student leadership and engagement in developing innovative extracurricular and co-curricular activites that support the development of entrepreneurial awareness, skills, and practice. Learn more and submit a nomination.
The Entrepreneurial University Nominated institutions should demonstrate excellence in both the Curriculum Innovation in Entrepreneurship and Student Engagement in Entrepreneurship award categories. Nominated institutions must provide evidence that support for entrepreneurial programs and initiative are integrated across the institution’s strategic plan. Learn more and submit a nomination.
Exemplary Practice in Technology Commercialization
Nominees must have developed and delivered a comprehensive program that helped accelerate innovations from the laboratory and research into commercialization. Learn more and submit a nomination.
Outstanding Contributions to Advancing Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education
Nominees should demonstrate extraordinary achievements to entrepreneurship in higher education. This award’s recipient should be known for leadership activities, service, and/or contributions to advancing the field of entrepreneurship in higher education. Learn more and submit a nomination.

Attend the 8th Annual Deshpande Symposium — June 10-12, 2019
The Deshpande Symposium is a gathering of like-minded practitioners focused on accelerating innovation and entrepreneurship across the college and university environment. The Symposium provides a venue for attendees to learn from each others’ experiences; to gain wider exposure for their ideas, successes and start-ups; and to collaborate on activities that increase innovation and entrepreneurship in their academic communities.
